Comfort Quilts is the Smithtown Stitchers community service project. Our members make quilts in various sizes. The quilts are distributed to local area hospitals and organizations. The project delivers approximately 400 quilts annually.
It is a Member in good standing's obligation to complete at least one Comfort Quilt per calendar year.
Please visit the Comfort Quilt table and volunteer to help. There is always a need for people to cut fabric into squares and sew squares together. There are kits of precut blocks ready to be sewn together. These kits can be made into lap size tops. They are a great way to practice new stitches by machine or by hand, try out new threads or hone your piecing skills.
The guild is also distributing quilts for babies. Neonatal quilts should measure 30"x30". These quilts must be quilted - they cannot be tied. So join in the fun, bring your machine or just volunteer to help in any way you can.
Comfort Quilt Sizes (width x length)
NICU/Premie 30" x 30"
Kids 36" x 48-52"
Lap/Hospice 45-48" x 60-65"
